From Principal’s Desk :

“If You are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people” – Chinese Proverb

There are many ways you can make an impact on the world. But there is no greater impact that you can make than spreading education, and empowering people who’ll empower and teach people, who, in turn, will empower and teach more.

The character traits which our teachers at JHB possess and which could be a strength as a leader is that they are unbiased and never judge anyone and respect individuals and the differences we all have as humans. Also, their honesty and communication skills is always an added advantage. The best part of working as a teacher is the autonomy you enjoy and the open-mindedness of people around, who don't judge you. Teachers always try their level best to abide by the school policies and uphold school culture. Teachers at JHB have gathered enough experience and hold on to the curriculum. Unit planning and collaborative meetings have also helped them and now they can plan and execute an entire unit on their own. I think the role of a teacher in pedagogical leadership is extremely important as how the teaching and learning will happen will be monitored by the teacher himself. It is the duty of the teacher to uphold the philosophy and principles of learning, looking at the kind of curriculum we have in our school. Also, the teaching and learning practices will be determined and guided by the teacher himself.

I, as a Principal will look into it that every teacher follows the school policy and gives the safety and security of students prime importance. Not just that, I will also look into students' academic growth and development as it's our primary duty as a teacher. I will encourage teachers to strive for inculcating moral values in our students and to make them a principled human being and not just a bookworm. Our students are teenagers and they would definitely have their own perspectives and take on every issue. We have to articulate to them what we expect from them and how things need to be done within the framework of policies and under the purview of routines and procedure. So, communication is the real challenge in dealing with students because any loophole in that will be detrimental to our relations with the students. Also, informing them about their mistakes or breaking any policy will be a challenge as incorrect justification or quantum of punishment should not look as if having a biased approach.

I guess as a teacher it's our primary responsibility and duty to also inform parents about their child's behavior and academic progress. It is also mandatory to report them about areas of concerns and anything which could prove harmful for the overall growth of a child. It is also equally important to inform them in a way that should not castigate the child or label them. Our duty is to help the child come out of any such thing without being judgmental about it. So, we need to be sensitive enough while informing the parents about it. The message we send across should look like we are trying to help the child and not blaming the child as whatever we come to know is a symptom and not a disease.

As a Principal, it will be my priority to take all the staff members together and make sure that we all share a common vision and there should not be a major difference of opinions. Even if we have differences, I will cater to them having essential agreements in place and through formal and informal meetings or one on one conversations. We should never have a biased attitude towards any member of the team and must give equal opportunity to everyone to put their points forward and take everyone into confidence and listen to everyone and respect their views and thoughts.

In the end, I would only say that in JHB, your ward is always in safe hands and along with academics, they are trained for life with computer training, music lessons, and various sports activities inculcating reading habits, inter and intra school events and training of various skills. Moreover, we use a lot of online and offline tools and resources to impart quality education.
